I am considering buying the Epson Stylus C84. However, in (user)
reviews I read various opinions about the text quality (ranging from
excellent to poor).

Perhaps it is useful to mention that I am currently using a (very old)
HP Deskjet 540, and I have always been very satisfied with its text
quality. Right now I need a printer that can do more than just text,
though. Is there any reason I should fear that the Epson C84 may
perform worse (text) than my old HP 540?

Thank you & Greetings - Erik

I use the C84 and find it a good all round printer, the text is execellent
in normal mode but in economy mode it really is what it says on the can.
The C84 is not really made for photo's but can hold its own on any paper
except the proper glossy photo paper, but it does perform well on matt and
pearl papers.Just bought a Photo 830u which I run alongside the C84 just for
digital photos and find the results excellent.

FYI the 84 takes "Dura-brite" glossy paper..

Thanks - it is much appreciated. I think I will go for the C84.

BTW apologies for the late reply. I was assuming that I would receieve
an email if someone posted to this thread (this was my first post
here).

Thanks again & Greetings - Erik
