I have just had the above installed and I notice it has three buttons
on the left hand top of it. I know one of these buttons, according to
the hand book/leaflet one button is to switch the printer off. Does
this mean that the printer has to be switched off when it is not in
use? What are the other two buttons for please?

Hi,

First my remarks are not trying to be smart so attempt to not take
offense.
With an Epson printer always turn the printer off with the power button when
you are finished using it. Leaving it on will help to dry out the heads,
instead of docking them on the sponge, which can not only waste power but
more seriously cause a head clog.
Secondly, if you will take the time to read the manual it will explain
what those other two buttons are. If for some reason the leaflet doesn't
explain those buttons try the Epson website and download the manual pdf file
so you can fully understand the details of this printer. The end result will
give you a fuller understanding of the machine.

Sorry, but you're definitely wrong.
Heads are _always_ automatically parked when the printer is idle for
some time.
Otherwise it would be a horrible design mistake.

Of course, I agree with power wasting issue (although idle power is
afaik about 2VA).

Thank you. I will try to find the site with a copy of the manual.

Middle button (error reset):
- loads/ejects paper (if pushed shorter than 3 sec)
- starts head cleaning (if pushed longer than 3 sec)
- returns the printhead from ink change position.

Right button starts ink change procedure.

Power+middle starts status sheet printing.
Power+right changes parallel port mode IEEE1284-4 (aka D4 packet mode)
auto/on/off.
