My 1200 is having major problems with the bar that the print heads run accross,
I have to clean it every time I try to print a photo. It jams and crashes into
the left side of the printer. If I totally take off the lubricant what should I
replace ti with, or has the bearing sleeve on the head carriage just worn out.
Any ideas or is this just the end after 4 years. Because it is such a PITA to
use it is starting to get the Epson clogs.

...... I had this with my 1200 - Talked with Epson (UK) - I think it's
a
design fault - to do with the width of the printhead (and its
bushes/bearing) - the speed at which it travels across the chrome bar
and
the wear on the bearing/bushes on this mechanism. It starts a
vibration that
unluckily causes the head to judder/vibrate and seize up on it pass...
this
causes the gear mechanism to slip and printing , if continued will
print
about a couple of inches in from the left margin...

The printhead head/size/ratio/ has been altered on all other Epson
printers
since - It was just unlucky that the 1200 caused this - probably not
even
picked up in the original design as Epson wouldn't know this would
show up
after a couple of years or so due to bush wear and vibration -
another 1/4
inch wider or narrower on the head bushes spacing and this vibration
ratio problem (probably) wouldn't have occurred..... just bad
luck......

I used to put a light squirt of WD40 onto a clean rag and give it a
run
along the bar EVERY TIME i started a good print job...

In the end - I gave up and brought a Canon s9000 (A3+) - Now 18 months
on -
that's just started giving me problems
(banding)......

You can't win .............
................................HP ????? - here I come ....... :-(
