Microsoft indicates that the RX580 is certified for Vista, however the
drivers, supplied by Epson will not install. Neither the printer nor the
scanner show up in device manager, but the printer works. Why won't the
scanner work?

Printers don't usually show up in the Device Manager.

What happens when you try to install the driver package from Epson? Can you
please give us a summary of what you have done so far and if you upgraded or
did a clean install of Vista (and which version of Vista it is). Thanks.

I hope I have not tried everything. The computer is a new Dell XPS, running
Home Premium version OEM Vista 32bit. I have tried to install drivers every
way I could think of, and was on the phone for two hours with Epson and they
could not get it working. Same with Dell. Install seems to go along but at
the end it says unable to install driver, file not found. I know exactly
where the file is, but no luck on install.

I hope you can get my RX580 printer, copier, scanner working. The printer
is fine, but it will not scan.

Thanks

I just got my wife one of these two weeks ago. I had to go to Epson's site
for Vista drivers even though the box said Certified for Vista it turned out
it was a sticker they had put on. The CD did not have Vista scanner
drivers. The website does. The URL is :

Sorry for the text wrapping.

HTH,

Thanks Art:

I have been there many times. Supposedly correct driver, but will not
install and computer does not see the scanner. Just a question, did you
install Vista or buy a machine with it already installed. By the way my
scanner works on my XP machine.

thanks again for the response,

Steve L
