Epson RX500 Twain Driver?

I've recently purchased the Epson RX500 -- it works okay out of Vuescan,
Corel Draw and the (supplied) arcsoft software, but it seems to choke on the
[supplied] Epson Smart Panel, returning an error message: "Please install
supported twain driver."

Any idea what this is about?

Thanks!

I got that error too. I'd run the installer (Mac OS X 10.3.7 [Panther])
which seemed to install everything except the printer and scanner
driver. I installed those items separately and everything's
hunkey-dorey. You will find those installers on the CD...just dig down
into the Mac OS X folder. The drivers folder at the top-level of the CD
is for the OS 8/9 drivers.

Also noticed that the Image Capture application also works with the
scanner. Didn't realize that functionality was available.

ran Epson's installer, I went to add a printer via the Printer Setup
Utility and it refused to find the RX500 when I choose the Epson USB
category.
