Epson RX425 scanning technology

Hi!

Technical specification of this device says its scanning technology is CIS
(CCD Type). What does it mean?

CIS is (Contact Image Sensor).

It means that the scanner has zero depth of field. Thus the "Contact" in its
name.
The scan object has to be contacting the glass to be in focus.

OK, but this is CIS (CCD type) scanner. If this is CIS scanner, why is it
CCD type?

Look at scan technology. It says CIS(CCD type) - aren't that opposite
technologies?

It may be wrong terminology on their part. They should have said "Image
Sensor Type".

Technically A CIS is an array of photo diodes or transistors with no lens.
