I think you mean CIS - continous ink system...it contains of tubes going
into large bottles of ink. It's used when printing biiiig time so you don't
have to change cart every 10 minutes and spend fortune for it. That money
was probably just for the system itself, no ink included. And you need 4
bottles of it, while bottles are up to 1/2 l, not too cheap...

right... :-))
It's just that a man asked quite decent question...sure, if it was stupid,
but not all were born scientists. What if you'd need some answer, i bet
you'd be quite happy when you'd get such an answer, right?

There are a number of companies offering continuous inking systems (CIS)
of continuous flow systems (CFS). They have been on the market for
numerous years now, starting as home brew originally, and now often
manufactured in China in larger quantities. You can also make your own
from parts now manufactured specifically for this purpose.

The designs vary in both functionality and cost. The best types tend to
be those which do not use sponges in the cartridges, or which use
spongeless ink dampers.

Most are a bit finicky, and of course, most importantly is the quality
of the ink used. They do ultimately save a good amount of money if you
burn through a lot of ink. If you do not, however, often the ink goes
"bad" after a year, and is wasted.

AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH THEM

MOST AFTERMARKET INK IS BAD AFTER IT IS BOXED
