Epson R800 image size - confusing specs

Can anyone explain what Epson mean when they specify this as image size
for their R800 printer?

MAXIMUM PRINTABLE AREA (mm)
89 to 241.3 x 89 to 1117.6 (using custom settings)

It clearly does not take paper wider than 8.5 inches (or does it?) which
is 216mm, so what does this mean? And 241.3 is clearly not a length
limit.

All I want to know is how big I can print (assuming I can get the paper
to achieve this!)

The slider part at the back only goes to ~8.5" wide so that's it. It
does take 8.3" wide roll paper, and is claimed to print up to 44" long
from the roll (but I haven't tried that yet - I just got it).

So it clearly can't do 241.3 x 1117.6, so where do they get the 241.3
figure from?

Have you tried any 8x10 full high quality facials prints? And are you
monitoring your ink consumption rate? These 2 questions are my biggest
concerns. I hear the R800 is a ink guzzler on the cleaning cycles and
the colors you don't use much get emptied by the starting up cycle that
occurs off and on. I was told 40 8x10 prints was a upper quess. You
precise time as owner could help me decide on my decission to by one.
Remove one "n" from double

Haven't purchased yet. Have decided to wait for the A3 version.
Questions over ink consumption are worrying me, though.
