I have a number of R300's printing CD's. They are now all developing
problems with the CD tray. Apart from the clear plastic lip collapsing,
which requires a push to get the tray under the rollers, they have started
taking the tray all the way through without stopping. They also do not eject
the CD properly, resulting in the printer thinking it has a paper jam.
Pushing very slightly on the centre of the CD fold down unit produces an
audible click which briefly cures both these problems, but it's a pain in
the backside having top watch the printers all the time. I've had the CD
fold down unit apart to see if there was a microswitch jamming, but the two
switches in there are to detect that the CD unit is down and that the CD
tray is in. I then thought that the rollers above the tray might be binding,
but they don't appear to even touch the CD tray. Anyone know if there is
something underneath that might be causing this, or is it a design fault
that appears when the tray/mechanism is slightly worn? All printers have
printed about 500 discs, although one has shown the fault from new.(I have
tried a new, unworn CD tray from one of the other printers and it still
shows the same fault.) Any help would be appreciated as I like the print
quality and accuracy, and the R300 is an awful lot cheaper than the DaVinci
Pro Printers I normally use. Is anyone else experiencing these problems/has
a cure?
