I am trying to print A4 size (210 x 297 mm) photographs on glossy paper
with an Epson Stylus Photo R265 printer. I am getting vertical lines of
non-printing dots 17 to 24 mm apart. I have run cleaning cycles and the
test print shows that all the jets are firing OK. Smaller prints seem
OK.

Any ideas as to cause and (hopefully) remedy.

Are you and have you always used Epson ink?

If you have a scanner, can you send me a scan at 300 dpi of both your
nozzle check and a small sample of the defect you are seeing (about 2-4"
square will do. Jpeg at high quality and send them as attachments.

Email them to:

and I will try to diagnose the problem. I will also send you a free
copy of my Epson cleaning manual, which offers many solutions to
printing defects that may not be fixable with regular cleaning cycles.
