After having used my EPSPON R200 printer for 2 years now without any problems a
message now continues to show up each time I start printing:
"Lifetime of some printer parts almost expired. For detailed information see your
printer´s documentation".

How can I get rid of this annoying message?
Otherwise the printer does a fine job. No "ink leaking" of some sponge can be noticed.

Waste pads need changing and the machine need re-setting. There is software on the internet that will reset for you but you must be aware that not changing the waste pads may cause leakage somewhere down the line. You can always fitt a waste bottle but it would be advised to do this after changing the pads. This Epson runs a points system, of say 30,000 points this may not be an accurate figure, and when you replace carts and do cleans and other consumer service to the printer the points are reduced until you end up with the message you are now getting, Some people in this group have suggested you can use carpet under-felt as waste pads my advise is don't. Hope this helps.

Shortly, the printer will stop communicating with your computer.

Before this happens you may be able to prolong its life by using the
program found at:

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Otherwise, the waste ink protection numbers will be reached and the
printer will no longer function until they are reset using a proprietary
Epson program.

Which 3 buttons held for 10 sec works on the R200? I was not aware that
this approach would work on the newer printers (starting with
approximately the R200 and moving forward).

Do be aware of the waste ink issue. I suggest you may wish to place the
printer on some absorbent paper with some plastic underneath so if it
does begin to leak it won't spill and ruin your carpet or whatever.

Thanks. I did it the "push-3 buttons- for 10 seconds" way. I´m happy again :))

You should fit a waste tank - it's /very/ easy to do it with a R
series printer (the C series require a bit of drilling if you don't
want to leave the case apart)
