Epson r200 advice

Can any of you clever chaps help please

I cannot get it to install the status monitor so I don't know how much ink
is in the cartridges.

Everytime I try and install it keeps complaining that it will not run in
windows mode as it is a 16 bit applicaton.

Any help please guys and gals

I have windows xp and also forgot to mention that the ink light is flashing
but I don't know what cartridge is empty
