I'm thinking about getting the R1800 rather than the R800 for photo
printing. But I'm not seeing then in any of the online stores like
Newegg. When can we expect to start seeing them for real?

The R1800 over the R800 appears to be a good choice, however, the Canon
i9900 might be a better choice.

I need long term archive capability and that requires pigmented inks
which I've not seen in Canon printers but I think one.

If that is the case good luck with the R1800. I hope you plan on using
OEM Epson inks.

Of course, why would one us anything else?

You can do it cheap or you can do it right.

Wise words. As a photo pro - I don't use anything other than Epson.

Si.

I have not heard of a lot of successes with 3rd party PIGMENTED ink in
Epson printers.

Which has nothing to do with the issue of when can I buy an R1800.

There is a listing on eBay selling the Epson R1800 for $529.97 with a ship
date of March 15.

He doesn't say if he's an authorized dealer.

I'm not in a rush and will wait for a know source rather than eBay.

concerned with the lawful killing of other people"
