I have an Epson C66 printer and when printing photos the image quality is not
as displayed eg in Photoshop or Word. I've been told that a recent upgrade to
XP has affected all Epson printers in this way, can anyone verify this please
or offer suggestions on how I can improve the quality of my pictures?

Hi Smoggy_man,

Most of the times the image quality of a print is not as good as that of a
monitor since your monitor is able to produce more colors than a printer can
with it's ink. That being said there are a few things that might improve
your experience.

1) Color manage your printer if a color pofile is available. This will give
you more color consistency throught your workflow. For more details refer to
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/prophoto/colorcontrol.mspx
2) If your ink cartridges are old or empty, changing them will help

Thanks,

Followed the install process for the software as suggested ~ didn't make any
difference to the print quality I'm afraid. Thanks for the help though.

Some of the Epson printers started printing darker than desired after SP-2.
If this is your problem, download updated drivers from Epson and follow
whatever instructions they give. Since you didn't mention the specific
problems, other than "print quality" it is hard to really make a good
recomendation.

Thanks "Chuck". You're right, the problem is that the printed copies are
noticeably darker than those shown via the programmes eg Picasso, PhotoShop.
I've downloaed the latet driver from the Epson web site as suggested but it
didn't seem to make a difference I'm afraid.
