Hi,
I have an Epson Stylus Photo 830U It has not been used for about 3 months
and now when I try to print I can't get black to print at all. I have
changed the cartridge and also used the cleaning software a number of times
but still there is not sign of any black ink coming out at all.

How can I clean the head manually?

Thanks for any advice
Lenny

You can only clean the head within the head cleaning section of the drivers.
If the black ink printhead was "dry", it could take some time to un-block.
If the printer is under warranty, check to see if the problem is covered.

Thanks,
It isn't under warranty and if it was then surely they clean them instead of
replacing. If that is the case then how to do that is the question. I have
nothing to loose as the printer doesn't work properly, it only cost £50ish
new and it is out of warranty ages ago!

Epson ink jet printers like to be used at least weekly. If not, their ink
clogs. Solution now is to replace the cartridge.

Thanks Cari,
I have replaced the cartridge but still there is no sign of the black ink
printing on the page

Run several cleaning and maintenance cycles. If still no change, then it
might be time to think about a new one.
