I am looking to buy an inexpensive color/photo printer and have narrowed
it down to either the Epson Photo 820 or the Epson C82. The printer
will be used primarily for photo printing on photo paper.

I like to get opinions as to which of these two would be best for
printing photos. Does the 820's six color system still make for better
photos than the C82's durabrite inks?

TIA

Yes if you are doing a lot of photos then the 820 is the better printer.
The C82 is not recommended for printing on glossy paper.

Definitely the 820. It makes wonderful photos. However, remember to use it
weekly or so
or the heads will clog.

Tony1 would do well to give advice and leave-out the
commercials...just leaving his signature advertisement.

This would give the impression of goodwill instead of acting like a
midway barker!

Comparisons can only be made with the feedback we have from customers and
necessarily with the products where we have most expertise; hence mentioning
the JetTec name. I can't compare with other wanna be compatibles, but the
group does that regularly.
If you have verifiable results conducted independently proving me wrong your
comments may be valid and credible - otherwise they are counterproductive
and another clog in the Epson printhead. Stick to the issue at hand. Barker
? strange expression...

I was just thinking the same thing. His post started off as helpful then
switched over to advertising. It's funny how he talks about jettec ink as
if he doesn't sell it (there are no "I"s anywhere). Oh well, some people
are shameless advertisers...

I would go with the 820 if those are the only two printers you're
considering. Why not check out HP or Canon? The 820 is plagued with
clogging problems, more so than other Epson printers.

You praise the perforamnce of jettec products, as if they're the best
aftermarket products ever -- yet you fail to mention that you yourself sell
it. That seems to imply that you're a regular customer who simply enjoys
the product. There's a difference between a customer saying "wow, this
product is good" and the person selling it saying the same thing. It's a
free world and you're free to advertise. It just seems like you're being a
bit deceitful when you praise jettec inks without mentioning you sell it.

Direct marketing peiole tell you that testimonials by plain folks are
one of the best selling tools.

To deliver "testimonials" and yet be the seller does seem dishonest or
at least unethical to me too.

I would like to see a bit more "truth about the advertising".

Yup, exactly. When I see raving reviews about a certain product by average
consumers, I am 75% more likely to buy it (or at least try it out).

Same here. While I haven't seen too many horror stories about jettec ink, I
haven't seen that many praises either. It's interesting because the one
post I remember (about jettec inks clogging an Epson printer), he didn't
even reply to the thread. Coincidence? I think not...

Oh my Gawd the thick plottens. Still at least you have something to chew on
:-)
