Epson Perfection 1250 Won't Work on Windows XP

My favorite scanner ever will not work correctly on a laptop with a
Pentium M, 256RAM, 20Gig, and Windows XP.

I bought this because I saw what a good job on OCR it did; I have tons
of typewritten documents still to scan to WORD. The scanner installs
successfully, but there are small program errors (such as the ability
to rename a scanned object). Most importantly to me, the OCR function
is completely out of whack.

This problem didn't exist with an older desktop I bought it for,
running Windows 98SE.

If anyone can tell me if there are updates for Perfection series, or if
this scanner just won't work on XP, I'd appreciate hearing from you
here.

Thank you.

There are updates for the 1250 on the Epson Support site.

Choose the 1250 that is your model. There is two choices for the 1250, Photo
with the transparency adapter and 1250 plain without the transparency
adapter.
