Do you really think that any company will make an announcement that
their current product range on the shelf will be obsolete before the
replacement is ready to ship?
It's done all the time... It's a gambit to make the competitor's brand
new product stay on the shelf. In the software world there's even a
name for it: "vaporware". It goes like this:
The competitor releases a new wowie-zowie product. The company has
nothing to match it so they get their marketroid drones to produce an
"announcement" of a "more better" product i.e. "Don't buy the existing
product of our competitor's because we are just about to release
something better and cheaper. No, really! Trust us!". Riiiight...
So, my advice to the original post is: Don't rely on any
announcements. Consider only what's available. Yes, new products will
be released, but if you wait, you'll wait forever. If you can afford
it and it suits your current requirements buy now, then close your
eyes and ears for a while because you're bound to be sorry. It's just
the way it is. :-(
Don.
