Epson i960 color problem

Does anyone know why my printer would print the red-blue color range
normally in plain paper mode, but then, in high grade or photo paper
mode, turn the blue scale to red-purple? This is driving me nuts! Is
this a printer driver problem, or maybe one of the print heads went
bad? All the cartridges are in the right color slots. Thanks.

I have had a similar problem with my i950. Whenever I change the paper
to anything except plain paper, I get the blue overcast. I have tried
most things but finally got an answer from a Canon authorised repairer
which I have accepted. Basically I was told that when you print on plain
paper only one of the two heaters in the printhead is used but in order
to get photo quality both heaters are energised to get a finer droplet
size. I don't quite see how the colour cast occurs but the explanation
sounds reasonable coming from such a reliable source. The cure is a new
printhead which I understand is very expensive. I now only use my i950
for rough print jobs and intend to buy a new printer when I decide what
best serves my needs. Incidentally, my printer started acting up after
only 18 months and it probably took another month of playing with it to
identify the combination of settings that gave the colour cast.

Perhaps I read this posting incorrectly! i think the i950 and i960 are
Canon not Epson....?

Epson i960?
Are you also the proud owner of a sea-side apartment in Nebraska?

Thanks. Yes, I meant Canon.

I had a friend with the same problem when he selected photo quality
paper.
I was repaired under warrenty, logic board went bad.
If your printer is still under warrenty take it to a Canon Repair
shop, they will fix it for free.

Dear all

I have a i960 Canon printer since four years and wanted to through i
away when I got it
- The Eaysy-PhotoPrint software and supplied ICC colour profile alon
with Canon PPP photo paper combination is just good for trash
Colours are saturated and too much red

- Do not use the printer settings proposed on Kodak's web site, the
are no good

- The best prints = to a lab finishing print is the following
i) I always used Kodak Premium Picture Paper
ii) Register to the Kodak Professional web sit
iii) Download the KProIJPaper_CaI960_V1 latest colour profile fo
the I960 or your printer model. Follow the instructions to install i
on your computer
iv) Install the ICC profile into
WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\colo
v) Set the printer driver settings as indicated in the PDF file
vi) Use the Kodak EasyShare printing software you will find fre
to download on the Kodak site

Note that I'm using Interactive Media Sales (IMS) ink refills
"www.ims-ink.com". You can find it at COSTC

Note that I never used other paper than Kodak's but with the Kodak PP
paper you will get astonishing laboratory result

Good printing
