HeHeHeHeHe ...

I was thinking about a 4870 **PLUS** this new one ...

HeHeHeHeHe ...

[BUT ... I haven't seen ANYTHING about the F-3200 anywhere else than this page ... ]

It looks like a hybrid type machine. Its not a flatbed but its not like
most dedicated film scanners. Looking at the graph, it still uses an
optical patch kind of like a flatbeds, doesn't it? It is kind of like a
4870 turned upside down but without the glass. The light source is on the
bottom and the optical system is on the top. I am guessing the holder moves
in and out and nothing in the scanner optical system moves. It uses a wide
bar like a flatbed scanner to collect and focus the data onto the CCD.

It is interesting that they claim 3200 dpi but the optical system sounds
related to the one "hyped" on the 4870 page with the Hyper CCD. Now that
Epson is crossing over into the film scanner arena, they aren't going to be
able to get by with their inflated "fluff" marketing dpi claims.

With the same dimensions and hopefully optical resolution of the S-20, this
might be the one.
Also, it seems that it can transfer images directly to memory cards. This would
be a bonus.

Patiently waiting,
Jeff.
