I'm considering this printer as a replacement for my C40, which has
died, and was always quite noisy in operation. Does anyone here have
any comments or advice on this model?

TIA

Same thing, different letter for different regions (though I had
thought that the UK used the C as well). Keep in mind that it uses the
DuraBrite Ultra ink, which is well known to cause clogging issues.
Unless you're planning on using the printer daily, you might want to
look into getting a Canon or HP

Any new printer will be far quieter than models from a few years ago.
Some are noiser than others, but most new models don't have the loud
motors and gears that older ones had (and practically anything is
quieter than a dot matrix)

I very well know about the certainty of clogging issues with the Dura-brite
inks, but the Dura-brite Ultra inks, used by the C88, D88, and and other
Epsons I have no experience. This ink came after the Dura-brite and have not
until this reply heard that there is excessive clogging with it. Anyone else
have experience with this animal?

I have yet to hear anything one way of the other about the new Ultra
Durabrite inks. Hopefully, Epson got smart and increased the drying
time on them, so the clogging issue is reduced.

The D88's work fine... I've got one here at home and another 2
downstairs waiting on a CIS installation. The inks are an unknown but
I've yet to hear that they clog as bad as the C84's and they've been out
for what? 6 months+ now so that must be relatively good news ;)
