I have an Epson C82; eight months old. Last week the magenta cartridge quit
printing. After trying all possible fixes, including reload of software,
there continued to be a problem. I noticed as I tried repeated fixes, and
repeated head cleaning, the Ink Status Monitor quit showing any ink in any
cartridge.
I contacted Epson, and was told there has been an *issue* with the magenta
cartridge. They sent me a new one, under the warranty agreement, within
three days, and I just have to send the other one back. Good, fast service
from the tech group, anyway...
Now my question. I have installed the new printer, new cartridges, and run
it through the head cleaning. Prints great, and everything works, except the
ink status monitor. It still shows everything empty. The box in the ink
monitor screen that says "Enable Ink Monitoring" is checked on. I have
looked in every nook and cranny of the software and cannot find any other
*switches* to turn on.
Since the problem showed up on the first printer, and continues after the
installation of the new printer, I have to assume that it is a software
problem. Any ideas about what software setting or switch needs to be
tweaked?
I am running a PC with Win 98.
TIA
