All grayscale images have a slight purple tint to them. Is this normal for
the C82? Can it be corrected?

Thanks -

Is your black ink low?

I own a C80, it prints redish cast on plain paper and generic glossy paper.
Also a bit greenish on very dark areas.

IIRC, the C80 and C82 won't use the black ink if you tell it you are
printing on glossy paper (they both use the same black ink cartridge,
though the CYM carts are different). Instead it will use the other three
colors to make black (or gray), and that may result in not-quite-black.

The reason is that the black ink won't adhere properly to glossy paper.

Are you setting it up for glossy paper? If so, try telling it that you
are using plain paper, and see if the grayscale color becomes more
reasonable.

My C-80 prints a Blue cast to the B&W photos on CG glossy paper, but
then it prints a Red cast to the B&W photos on Kodak glossy paper.
But on Epson paper its B&W. These color differences are noticable to
a non-photo grap[hic person.
