Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me. My friend recently brought some
replacement cartridiges for her Epson C40, 1 black and a colour. The black
one works fine, but there are some problems with the colour cartridge. The
cartridge is full but the software keeps telling her that its empty. Anyone
know what could be wrong?

Thanks

Faisal

I've recently had this issue with C80 and an 895. Ease out the cartridge and
with an with an ear bud cleaning stick gently clean the wire contacts which
are usually recessed at the back of the housing. These sometimes become
splashed with ink. If in doubt use a little alcohol or spirit to degrease
the contacts. Equally gently wipe the green micro chip contacts.
That fixed both those I've mentioned.
regards Tony

C40 carts have no chips.

Fuz: go through color cart change procedure built into the printer driver
(even without removing and reinserting the cartridge). This should help.

Best regards,

Oops sorry about that Mate. I mixed your clog bit with another. With the No
chip TO13401 and TO14401 it might be best to ensure they are correctly
inserted as little else can go wrong

As long as the cartridge is installed properly, there is nothing you can do.
It comes up once in a while... your cartridge is defective, take it back to
the store and exchange it for a new one.

In C40 the cartridge defect (what defect???) has nothing to do with ink-out
indication.
The cart could be made of toilet paper ;) and can be indicated as full,
because all ink usage tracking is built into the printer.

IMHO Fuz' friend started the "black cartridge change" procedure, but changed
color too. This way the printer did not reset the color cart counter.
