Epson ActionLaser 1500 under WinXP - ?

Anybody else having problems with the Epson ActionLaser 1500 under
WinXP? I've tried XP's Epson driver and HP III driver, still getting
odd artifacts in the printouts - letters that run together, etc.

When my Action Laser 1000 acted up (with XP pro) I replaced the printer
cable. Problem went away
