Based on a long review of various models and a lot of research, I
purchased the Epson 960. I am about ready to throw it out the window!
No matter what I do, ALL prints have a redish tint to them, some
worse than others.

I have printed using various programs including Photoshop 5.0,
Photoshop 5.0LE, Photoshop Elements 2.0, and others. They all come
out with a red tint. When I print the same file using the same
programs to my Epson 970, they print fine.

I even moved the 960 to another computer and they still print red. I
have emailed Epson support but have not heard back from them yet.

Has anyone here got a clue what is going on and how I can fix this?
It seems obvious to me based on what I have done that there is
something wrong with this specific printer.

I would appreciate a response to my email addy as well as here because
I only get the newsgroups through the net and don't get here often.

Thanks in advance!

Can this not be corrected by reducing the excess colour in the Epson printer
software? There is a custom setting for changing the colour values in the
print menu.
I have different settings for various papers and photo programs.
With some trial and error it should be possible to get a near perfect match
with what you see on the screen.

Hope this helps.

I also have an Epson 960 that prints excellent photos if your color
management settings are set properly. If your color management
settings are off then you will get distorted colors. I suggest you
print through non color managed software first such as Epson Film
Factory and in the meantime familiarize yourself with color management
in Photoshop. Or try calling Epson technical support and they can walk
you through the proper driver & software settings.

Just a follow up. I heard back from Epson (seems they never received
my first email to them). They suggested running a nozzle check at
least three times or more, if the problem still persisted, change out
the appropriate cartridges.

Well, I did that, and it seems that one black cartridge and the yellow
cartridge were not printing at all. This from a brand new printer.
So, I changed those and everything works fine now.

I'm somewhat dissapointed that the ink that came with the printer
didn't work properly, but at least the problem is fixed and thats all
that matters to me.

So for any others that are having color problems you may want to
remember this.

Thanks for everyones responses.
