Epson 915 clogging problem - junk it and buy Canon?

I've an Epson Stylus Photo 915 that cloggs about once or twice a week. It's
incredibly frustrating when it happens, but a head clean is often all that
is required.

Occasionally, I have to do several head cleans, resulting in the use of a
lot of ink.

Once I've had to leave it overnight (as per the manual) then clean it in the
morning to renew satisfcatory printing.

I'm considering the purchase of a Canon i865, but as my Epson is only 7
months old, I'm concerned that it's too soon to junk it (I wouldn't want to
ebay it, it wouldn't be fair to sell an unreliable printer to another user).

What should I do - stick with it as it does do superb prints when not
clogged (plus the ink and paper are cheap - NB: I only use Epson ink and
paper).

Or should I junk it and get an i865... likely to get any cloggs with one?

Cheers all,

Si.

Si,

Speaking as someone who had the same dilemma recently, the decision I
finally made was to scrap my not-so-old epson c80 and buy a Canon i560
instead...A good decision as it turns out.
My Epson was clogging every day so the ink cartridges were costing me a
fortune, in comparison my Canon has only required one head clean in the
first month I had it and none more since.
The Canon software is better too, in my opinion.
Hope that helps.

BGG.

As it's only 7 months old, wait till it cloggs again then phone Epson. Report
that "it won't work anymore".
The next day you will receive a brand new printer which you can sell to raise
cash in order to purchase a Canon.
