Hi

I have had my 830 for a couple of months now and have found two
annoying problems. The first is that the black refuses to print after
leaving it switch off for about a week and secondly the first couple
of prints (10x8) are over saturated as if too much ink is being put
down. I usually clear the black ink problem by removing and
reinserting the cartridge but the over saturation problem is really
beginning to cost me!

Anyone else experienced this?

Judging by the number of comments appearing in this news group and my
customer feedback the 820/830 seems to have a couple of quirks not present
with other Epson models.
It would seem to help if you give the printhead a nudge when parked to the
right. Somehow parking the heads is not exactly accurate. Oversaturation is
usually a feature of getting the right paper. The JetTec inks and possibly
some other better compatibles should solve the cost barrier of Epson OEM
inks. Here: www.inkylink.co.uk there is also advice on blocked nozzles and
Paper matters.

Best advice is to leave the printer turned off when not printing. Also make
sure after it is turned off to give the cartridges a nudge to the right.
When you leave it on waiting to print you will get longer cleaning cycles
which uses more ink.
