When using the Head Alignment facility there are horrible gear noises and
bad alignment printout. But on head colour print out it is OK. Apart from
needing cleaning every five print outs! Less than 2yrs light home use.
The mechanical noise only started after updating PC and reistalling the
drivers. Which I have done twice on recomendation from Epson.
Any sugestions appreciated

If you know you have clear mechanical noises try lubricating the chromed
guide bar along which the printhead flies. WD40 does at a pinch or a better
quality silicone grease. If you laso have smearing of prints - front or
back - try cleaning the ink overflow pads.

Solved it!!
Phoned Epson who told me that, after listening to the noise over the phone,
that the printer should be sent to Equinox for repair, but don't expext a
cheap repair. If over £25 buy a new one. I removed the cover cut out a slot
for the USB cleaned up the drain pad and head wiper and found that the head
trip latch had been moved to a strange position!! I move this to where I
thought it should be (on the poke and hope principle) put cover back, held
breath, switched on, did head alignment test .. and it worked ok. Just have
to put up with the ocational blocked nozzle now. Information for what it is
worth
