In the market for a new printer considering the Epson 3880 or 4880 but
would like to print panoramic images.

With the Epson 3880 printer does anyone know if it will trick to print
continuous paper and not just the cut sheet A2.

The 4880 will print continuous paper.

or any other suggestions??

Thanks

There always seem to be a lot of Epson 3800/3880 users on the
dpreview.com forums. If you don't get a good answer here, try there.

I have an Epson 3800 and like it a lot. But I have not tried to print
any panoramic images.

Best regards. ...pt

The 3800 does not have a roll paper feed, so you would be limited to cut
sheet of A2 size or smaller. Check Epsons web site for the 4880, I think
that does have a roll attachment.

It only says cut sheet

Not sure if the drivers will allow for a custom size beyond A2. Not
concerned that it doesn't have the rollers or cutter.

The 3880 is 30% cheaper than the 4880 which you can use roll paper.

Thanks

Can it cope with a custom image size larger than A2 or its restricted
within the drivers?

All Epson printers (even the cheapest ones) permit custom size printing of
about 110 cm (44 inches) in length. I don't think the 3800 is the exception.

Thanks that's what I wanted to know. The 3880 is 30% cheaper than the

Sorry, Rob, I have had no reason to try this.

As I suggested earlier, if you don't get conclusive answers here, try
the dpreview.com forums. Lots of Epson 3800/3880 users there.

Good luck. ...pt

Just an update - decided to buy a 7900 as Epson had a deal which
included a projector and a V700 scanner about $4000 RRP worth of which I
am selling the projector TW3500. This brought it with my budget.

I feel more comfortable having a 24" printer which has 11 inks with 3
usable blacks - has a larger scope making and mounting the bigger prints.

17" make a large print but only matted and framed whereas the 24" the
prints can be wrapped over a stretcher frame which need about 2" all
around for the print to be wrapped.
