Epson 3170 + Silverfast v6 what do you think?

Is Epson 3170 + Silverfast scanner driver any good.
I need a good scanner for standard reflective scan and since Epson stoped
producing 3200 I was thinking of buying 3170.

What do you think?
 
FWIW, they have stopped producing new 3170's, too. It has been replaced by
the 4810. Any 3170's left are old stock or refurbs., so make sure to get a
great price. You can download a demo version of Silverfast. I think that
will be your best way of evaluating whether it is right for you.

It seems that only way to know is to try so I have managed to get one 3170
and 4990 for try over weakend. 4990 is more expensive but I want to see if
it is worth of extra money.
