Epson 2450 with Vuescan

I'm about to install an Epson 2450 with a new PC. I intend to use
Vuescan rather than the "native" Epson software. Do I need to install
the Epson twain driver first, or will Vuescan detect the scanner
without?

Should detect it without the twain driver, VS does not use twain.
