The SmartPanel software that came with the 2450 only runs in Classic.
Newer scanners, like the 3200, have OS X software. Does anybody know if
there is an OS X upgrade route for 2450 owners?

Newsoft doesn't say. I e-mailed them about this but don't have an
answer yet, but I figured somebody must haave looked into this.

Nothing from Epson. At least, they haven't come up with such a pathetic
joke as the OS X printer driver for my Stylus Photo 1200. :-/

OS X versions of both Vuescan and Silverfast are available for the 2450.

I'm using my 2450 with Vuescan but I have to connect it using the
firewire interface since operation via USB crashes the whole system like
nothing I had ever seen before.

I have EPSON Scan (1.28) and I also use VueScan (running through
firewire), depending on the application. However, SmartPanel has some
useful things it can do. I looked at it when I installed it early last
year, but since I went to Apple because of OS X and Unix, I am not
interested in using the Classic apps if I can avoid it.

what's wrong with the OSX driver for the SP 1200? Works fine with me.

Have you tried centering your print on the page or printing anything
larger than A4?

Yeah you're right - I almost forgot, but the centering option has gone.
Although I liked it, it's no big deal to me.

Printing A3+ is no problem with me. Have you downloaded the latest
version? After they released a first OS X driver, it was succeeded by
another version.
