Epson 2400: How do I get the final scan to match the color shown in the preview?

When I scan in color the final scan does not match the color of the preview. This is particularly noticeable with
strong reds. Is there some obvious (or not-so-obvious) fix for this?

If it would help I can attach a .jpg screen-shot to demonstrate the problem.

I had the same problem on Minolta Scan Elite 2.
I just switched to "scan-from-preview" approach. By the way, it saves
me a lot of time.
