My manual says that to check the ink level on an Epson Stylus Photo
2200 running under Windows XP that I should have a small printer icon
in my task bar which when clicked will bring up a status monitor. I do
not find a printer icon for the Stylus 2200 anywhere on the desktop.
Would appreciate help in how to launch the status monitor to check the
printer's ink level.

Thanks,

It finally dawned on me that the ink status monitor was not installed
when setting up the printer, so I just did so with the Epson printer
CD and now the ink status monitor is up and running.

Still not sure why light magenta ran out so quickly compared to other
colors when I'm printing mostly black and white photos. I understand
that I can turn on the "black ink only" feature, but I thought that
was for text and draft only and would not produce photo quality.

It uses all 7 colors to make black and white, as well as color prints.
