Hi,

I need to perform a clean install of my OS (what fun), and I was hoping to
save the calibration settings for my printer so as not to have to go through
the whole rigmorale again.

OS - Win XP Pro
Printer - Epson 2100

Sorry if this post is OT, but I would be very grateful for any help!!!

Thanks,
Peter.

PS. I have searched google, and if you can find the answer to this question
then you're a better searcher than me : )

What did people of Epson technical support say and why didn't
it satisfy you?

Regedit: HK/Current User/Epson You can possibly export the settings as
a reg file, and use it in the new install.

Peter, hi

Do you mean the custom settings saved in the "save settings" screen of
advanced? if yes:

Take a look in C:\Program Files\EPSON\<name of your printer>\*.UCF
(C:\windows for Windows 9x)

I'm unsure if the driver versions need to be the same for the backup and
restore to work I'd suggest using the same version to start with.

Create your backup of this file
Go to your test PC (friend etc. To make sure it works first)
Check the name of the .UCF on the target machine and back it up under a
different name.
Copy your backed up .UCF to the target machine and rename it to the name for
the original file on this PC
Test.

alternatively, search your PC for .ICM files if it is color profile
"calibrations" you want to save.

If either of these are not what you wanted please describe what you are
trying to backup and I'll have another shot.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your help, your post is helpful (as I didn't know how to do it)
but not exactly what I was after.

I may be barking up the wrong tree, but I'll try to explain:

When you first install this printer you need to perform a series of tests
such as print head alignment etc. I assumed that the driver uses these
settings to get the best prints. The damn tests consume several sheets of
photo paper and some time (not a particularly fast printer). Added to that
is the fact that when I first set it up I was precise to point of being
anal.

I was wondering if these settings were stored somewhere in a driver file?
Is this calibration stored in the printer's memory or as a physical change
that doesn't need to be re-configured? I hope that this makes sense.

Thanks,
Peter.
