Because of my 1200 being a PITA. I'm wondering about the Epson 2000P, other
than the lack of gamut in the inks ( that can be changed), any other negatives
for this printer. A local store has refurbs for $199.

You need to stick to the Epson inks which are not cheap. The
gamut "problem" is overstated. Very few things in nature
have colors that exceed the gamut of most inkjet printers.
Offset printing has an even smaller gamut and nobody seems to
notice.
If the printer is in good condition, it's a bargain.

Crisis over just bought another mint 1200. My bulk ink system will work on it
so I will just get a new but working printer.
BTW several people on the Epson Wide Format group have converted these priners
to MIS and Media Street Generations inks, and feel there have more of a gamut
than Epson's set. I agree though that while people will accept offset
printing, they will often comment on the lack of a true black in photos. A lab
I work with that has an Epson 10000CF runs into this quite often. But some of
the photos are on the walls and it is not visable.
