I do not own one, but here is what I can tell you. I get request from
people world wide about clogged head issues and other problems with
Epson printers.
Usually, about a year to a year and a half into introduction of a new
printer, I start getting an influx of requests for help with head clogs,
and how to resolve them. I don't want to give a wrong impression here,
so let me just say that well over 90% of them can be resolved with
appropriate maintenance done at home at almost no cost.
The 1400 has been out for a good while now, and besides being very
reasonably prices for acquisition and output of really fine images, with
good ink qualities (low fade, scratch resistant) it also has had a very
low complaint level on my end due to clogging issues relative to all
other Epson printers.
So, while I don't own one myself, that's my overview about it.
The one thing to consider with ANY inkjet printer is:
Cost of ink per yield (in other words how much does a cartridge cost,
how many colors, and how many prints does it yield from that ink)?
Is there quality 3rd party ink available that gives similar results and
qualities?
If you will be printing a lot, can it be fitted with a bulk inking system?
