Hi,
For some reason this evening I had several communication error with the Epson 1280 printer
on Win XP Pro. I changed the cable location and rebooted a number of times.

I have had occasional problems like this in the past, but never several in one night.

Any suggestions to fix this problem?

Warm Regards,
Lou

Reload the drivers

It is not a problem with a corrupt driver but a problem with the Epson
driver itself. If you are able to print although there is an error warning
box citing communication problems these instructions will probably, but not
definitely (the wonder of computers!) work:

Here are the instructions Epson sends out if you contact them with this
problem (guess how I got them?):

Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.

If you get a communication error but your printer still prints (either
across a network or locally), please perform the following steps on the
computer that produces the error:

1. Click START, SETTINGS, PRINTERS.
2. Double click the icon for your printer.
3. Click PRINTER, PROPERTIES, PRINTING PREFERENCES.
4. Click MAINTENANCE, SPEED AND PROGRESS, MONITORING PREFERENCES.
5. Uncheck the ERROR and COMMUNICATION ERROR boxes.
6. Click OK, OK, APPLY, OK.

Repeat this procedure for each computer producing this error message.

My 1270 used to do this sometimes. I never did figure it out.

Printer died of clogged heads so it didn't matter beyond that and I never
investigated further.
