System Win 98SE with Epson 1200U Scanner
I have 13 folders in my Prestol Page Manager V4.2 and I now have difficulty
in transferring my scanned files from the Inbox to these folders.
I use drag and drop and have been successfully doing so for years
I now find that I get an error message for most of the files saying "Cannot
copy or move files"
A few of the folders will accept transferring some files but the majority
won't allow it
I have reinstalled Page Manager without deleting the existing copy as I
didn't want to loose my scanned pictures. But no different
Can you help please
Regards
Blair Malcolm

Check the properties of the files that won't move or copy. They should not
be marked as system and/or hidden and maybe read-only.

Make sure the files actually exist. Look with Windows Explorer.

Also if another program has the files open, they may be locked by the OS.

You may have re-install Prestol Page Manager V4.2. It may have corrupted
files.

Thanks for your helpful reply.
Looking at Windows Explorer I find that there are 13 folders listed, 4 of
the 13 are not listed in the Page Manager list
Looking at Page Manager I find that 11 folders are listed, 3 of the 11 are
not listed in the Windows Explorer list.
In other words there are 9 folders which are listed in both
Checking the properties the only box ticked is the "Archive" one. There is
no consistency with this ticking.
In the case of the Page Manager 4 allow transfer and 7 do not..
I think that the whole scanning procedure in my case was probably handled in
different ways.
Because I was using Adobe Photo De Lux to print certain scanned pictures to
A4 sheets I had to save them to a file. And a number of photographs were
just left on page Manager.
But it is still strange that some folders which are listed in both Explorer
and Page manager are sometimes transferable and sometimes not
There is no difference in the operation since I reinstalled Page Manager
Can you spot what I should do now to tidy my system?

The "Archive" attribute is used to indicate if the file has been backuped
(is that a word?) by a backup program. Ticked means, it has not. Otherwise
the Archive attribute has no meaning.

I do not know about tidying your system, but maybe check the setting in
Windows Explorer to see if it is configured to show all files.

For Windows 98SE, XP is slightly different.
Start Windows Explorer.
Tools>Folder Options>View Tab. Under Hidden files, tick show all files.
Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.

After configuring Windows Explorer to show all files, See if any to the
folders and files that are missing, then show up. After Window Explorer
shows all files, any file or folder not listed in Windows Explorer does not
exist.

Page Manager may be confused by moving, copying, adding, and deleting files
outside of Page Manager.
I have no idea how to fix it, if that is the case. Maybe a refresh command
somewhere? Read Page Manager help.

Did you try to move and copy the files with Windows Explorer?

I arranged or all files to be shown but no difference.
The 4 folders which appear in Windows Explorer but not in Page Manager,
appear in my Scan folder which is part of my own documents.
That accounts for the 4 but since I scanned them they should appear on the
Page Manager List.
That leaves 3 in Page manager and not in Explorer. One is standard pictures
folder supplied with the programme-That is why it is not shown
One is a folder with nothing in it. Again supplied by programme. I have
deleted it.
Which leaves one which exists in Page Manager but not in Explorer and also
not in My scan folder
I can transfer all the files in Explorer which is one way round the problem.
I use Adobe Photo deluxe for arranging and printing my photographs including
scanned ones so I have to save them to a file before I can access them
Why the 4 folders do not appear in Page Manager remains a mystery but at
least I can access them through Explorer!
