Hello,
I do not want my users to have local admin rights, but
for updates for Norton Antivirus "their" (NAV) tech
support tells me that I should make everyone a local
admin. My question is: Is there a way to change the
environment variable to make the local machine think that
it has admin rights to copy the 1 file necessary for the
NAV updates?

I'm not aware of a way to do that via a system variable. What you should be able to do is give them full control to the file and
directory that the updates are written to. This may give them just enough rights to update the AV signatures.
Thank you,
Mike Johnston
