Why is it that you must place the address on an envelope by trial and error.
If I place it according the preview it ends up in a different position?

Envelopes has never been one of Word's best features! Funnily, I have the
opposite problem: the addresses print where they appear in Print Preview -
which is where I don't want them and be buggered if they will stay put!

The answer is to create your own templates for each type of envelope you
use. At least: you should be able to keep your hair for a few more years
doing your own!
