Phil

I am still having a continuing problem of my envelope
wizard not recognizing most of my outlook contacts. I've
tried the suggestions and nothing has panned out or
doesn't apply to my circumstance. It seems the program
just isn't operating correctly. All my contacts have
been inputed exactly the same as far as I can tell. I
also think my outlook address book isn't operating.
Anyone having these problems?

YES. I've wasted the better part of this afternoon
trying to make lables from the contacts list. I've gone
back and forth from word to outlook using the mail merge
functions (and I know how to do this using old Word and
Outlook 97). The two programs are just not
communicating. Must be a small blocked checked wrong
somewhere. Online help has nothing about this. Please
someone help!

We have nothing to go on. Post your Outlook version and "the suggestions"
you tried. List the steps to reproduce your problem.

YES indeed. There are many postings on this exact problem
with no real answers. Good luck. I am going to spend
another $35 on this microsoft support line to try to get
it resolved, but obviously there is something wrong here.
All the help I get is "I can't help you, because you have
not told me what exact steps and problems you have." This
is a flimsy response in my opinion, because SO many people
are having the same problem. There should be somebody who
has thought this through and can help. version 1,2,
3000. Whatever.

Apparently you are unaware that there are innumerable ways to complete a
mail merge and that the methods differ in every version of Outlook. So when
you post "my mail merge won't work and I've tried everything," how do you
expect anyone who wasn't watching over your shoulder to figure out what you
did wrong? Mail merge can be complicated to set up and a lot can go wrong.
But it is not a broken feature that has a simple global fix, as you imply.

There is a newsgroup dedicated to mail merges among the Word groups. I would
suggest you post versions, the precise steps used, and the outcome of your
attempts there if you want answers.
