Currently I do not know of any enterprise version of antispyware
software. If that is the case and Microsoft does make an enterprise
version they would be the first in this market filling a large void.

Do a little research.

Webroot has a fully functional and effective enterprise
spyware solution. Pestpatrol had one as well, but they wre
bought out by CA.

I have been using the enterprise version of PestPatrol for
about a year. Computer Associates very recently bought
PestPatrol. It is now called CA eTrust PestPatrol Anti-
Spyware Corporate Edition. It is an excellent product, I
would suggest going to CA's site and reading more.

There are numerous enterprise anti spyware sweeps, I'm
currently investigating them. Mcafe make one, Computer
assoicates have just released one, Symnatec have their
bundle called Client Security, Webroot have an enterprise
edtition, Internet Security Systems make one.

The real question is are any of them that effective.
Firefox web browser works great for stoping most spywhere
and popups, but for an enterprise it is no where as easy to
deploy and lock down than IE with AD policies.

I just finished evaluating the CA software for my company.
I was a little unimpressed, security wise it leaves too
many services. You need to run the server, and computer
browser services running on the pc to deploy it and manage
it, this reduces your overall security.

It was good at removing spyware, a little too good, it
deleted files in a legitimate application that had file
names matching its keywords.

I can't recommend it to my company for the services reason
alone.

I'm in the midst of evaluating enterprise versions for my company as well.
It's very disappointing that there does not appear to be a good one out
there right now. Pest Patrol and Spysweeper failed. Pest Patrol has issues
with real time protection and false positives. It is fairly strong in
controlling false positives with exceptions, but it fails badly on real time
protection. Spysweeper was a little stronger in real time protection but
they have no way to exclude drives and/or folders from a scan. You can only
exclude file types. Both require network administrators to support the
operation of the software. I don't know about other enterprises, but with
over 10,000 users and 1000 servers we don't want to tie up a network admin
cleaning spyware. These things need to have the ability to use network
admins for configuration and control but allow a web based console to be
accessed with lesser permissions to take care of the workstations. Next up
for us is CounterSpy by Sunbelt Software, Intermute and the LanDesk Suite.
I don't have high expectations for any of them in a network environment.
One of our rules is that we can not test BETA at all, so Microsoft is not
even under consideration since they do not presently have an enterprise
version and when they do it will certainly be BETA for awhile. Maybe next
year...

There are numerous Enterprise Anti-spyware products
available. Sunbelt, Pest Patrol, etc.

Sunbelts Enterprise solution is based on the Giant
Antispyware engine, which just so happens to now be owned
by Microsoft. From what I understand Sunbelt has 1 year
to either rewrite their engine, or fold. Giant was
poised to release a beta of their enterprise edition
right about the time when MS bought them out. It pains
me a bit to have MS so tight lipped about their plans for
the Enterprise piece of Giant. It's not like the
corporate community doesn't need a centrally managed
spyware utility that ties in to AD. Please MS, I'm
begging you, help us out here.
