Entering Text in Foreign Alphabets

This may not be the correct forum, but here goes

On my previous computer I recall I had downloaded some modules which enabled
me to display and enter characters in Cyrillic, and several other roman
alphabets with diacritics. I now need this facility on my new computer, but
don't know where to start. Can you point me to an appropriate web site?

about the Microsoft Visual Keyboard (see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=241125), it seems to have been available
only with the MLP for Office 2000, and I don't think it's supported in more
recent versions of Office.

In later versions there is an on screen keyboard included as part of Windows
XP's Accessibility Options. This responds instantly to the current input
language set in Windows. and makes entering foreign languages a breeze. It
can be used to enter the text directly or as a reminder of the key
positions. It works fine in Word 2003. Living as I do in a country where the
first language is Greek, I sometimes use this method to enter Greek text in
Word.

The alternative is to use a second (USB) keyboard for foreign language use -
and given the low cost of keyboards, this is probably the way forward if
there is to be a lot of text entered regularly in the alternative language.

But how do I load (or if they're already part of Office, how would I
activate) the modules which provide the ability to set up the keyboards,
spell check, and view the foreign characters (Chinese, French, Spanish,
Turkish, etc..)

Starting from Windows 2000 (then XP, etc.) you don't need to do anything
to _display_ European languages (including Cyrillic) which could easily
proven by going to any national Web site - you will be able to see all the letters at once.

To activate _keyboard_ support you do need to perform some steps.
Here is such step-by-step instruction for Cyrillic (Russian), but the steps are
the same for any other European language - Turkish or French or Greek or Czech, etc.:
