I need to manually add a web page to my Favorites list by specifying an http
web address and giving a name to the page. How do I do this in IE6 ?

The Add to Favorites only lets me enter the current web page with my own
name for it. Surely there must be some way to add a Favorite by manually
specifying a web page address and name.

For 2000/XP:

c:\Documents and Settings\username\Favorites
- Right-click new > shortcut > type the website address and create shortcut

"C:\windows\favorites" for Win9x.

Thanks, Ramesh, that works. But shouldn't MS provide such functionality from
within IE6's user interface ? Strange that they don't.

Welcome, Edward.
interface ?

I don't think its required. That's why Microsoft provided us with the .URL
file association and creating a new shortcut would just take care of it.
