Entering and canceling Windows Security cures hang, why?

I had been having some problem using a feature of Adobe Bridge. It
would hang with100% processor usage as indicated by the minimized Task
Manager icon when I attempted to preview an avi file. Hitting
alt-control-delete to get to the Windows Security window and then just
selecting cancel somehow cures the problem and permits the avi file
(but only that one) to be previewed. (Having a similar avi file open
in Windows Media Player in another window somehow solves this
problem.)

I have been trying to figure out with what causes this problem in
Adobe Bridge and if I knew just what calling up Windows Security and
then just canceling it did that might give me a clue as to what is
going on with the 100% processor usage thing.

Does anyone know what exactly could be happening here with Windows
Security that might un hang a running program?

Your first step should be to contact Adobe tech support for help with
their product. This may be a known issue and if so, Adobe will know of
a workaround or perhaps even have a patch.
