I'm trying to enter numbers in excel cells that are 17 digits long. If I
leave the format for the cells as "general" it rounds the number to the 15th
digit and makes the last two digits "0". I can keep the number in the cell
exactly as I type it if I format the cell as "text". However, I want to be
able to sort this information in ascending or descending order and with a
text format it doesn't allow the cells to sort correctly.

You need to post in an Excel newsgroup. This is FrontPage.
