"Enter Network Password" Box

Please help me.

When in outlook and I press "send/receive" an "enter
network password" box comes up - not once but SIX times.

I select the save password box and press return.
Sometimes this goes on for about 24 times (once I have
cleared the original six, another 6, and then another 6
etc come up). As you can imagine this is very annoying.

The same email can appear in my inbox atleast twice,
whilst I am going through this process.

Can someone help me please.

Many thanks.

Lorraine

Roady,

Thanks for that, I tried it and it didn't work. "Save
this password in your password list" still remains
unselected.

I have Windows XP if that is of any help to you.

Thanks.

This doesn't work and if you go
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=290684 and the instructions for
Outlook 2002 on a Windows 2000 machine are not correct. When you get
to #15 and it mentions a SERVER TAB I don't have a "SERVER TAB", so I
just deleted my e-mail account and did all of the other things and
rebooted and still no luck. I'm still having the same problems as
everyone else with this "Enter Network Password" constantly popping
up. Any further suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!!

Hi Lorraine,

To what service are you trying to connect? POP3, Exchange, IMAP, other...?

Also; are you logging in with the administrator account or with a user that
has administrative priviledges? I haven't verified it myself but I had some
feedback from someone who had the same issue but only when loged on as an
administrator. Once he logged on with his own user account the problem was
gone. He used a POP3 account by the way.

If you have this problem on your own useraccount see if the problem also
occurs with another useraccount. If this isn't the case try recreating your
mail profile first;
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...

If this still doesn't give you any results you can recreate your user
profile. This means you will loose all settings and files that are stored
under C:\Documents and Settings\%username% so you might want to make a
back-up of that first.

Please post back your findings.

I'm running Outlook in Office XP and followed the suggested fix in MS Knowledge Base Article 264672 cited above, ignoring the Outlook Express reference in the title, and IT WORKED!
