Have HP laptop less than one year old - all of a sudden
enter key doesn't work. Ever heard of this NOT being a
hardware problem and is fixable?

Keys are mechanical so fail on occasion. It could be just
in need of a cleaning with compressed air to get dirt out
that is blocking full movement, but it could be in need of a
replacement by HP since the warranty has probably expired.

Look in the control panel to be sure somebody didn't disable
the key or change the function.

My HP is doing the same thing after I downloaded Microsoft's security updates about a week or two ago. I've read many similar postings about the same thing. Neither enter key works. A new keyboard does not work either. Microsoft won't acknowledge the problem. Have you downloaded any updates lately?

How patronising, if you know how to help Judi, do so, I found your reply quite insulting, don't forget that most people that use these help sites are new users and not "experts" like you
I can't help, but certainly I wouldn't be bothered posting inane answers if I couldn't. This reply is of no help to Judi of course, but I hope it helps people like you wasting web space by people like you (and me)

Unless you include your original post and Judi's response, no one but you
will have a clue as to what you are complaining about.
